Bhuvaneshwari Temple

Bhuvaneshwari Temple

The Bhuvaneshwari Temple, also known as the Telco Bhuvaneshwari Temple, is a prominent spiritual landmark situated atop the Bhuvaneshwari Hill (or Brahmin Hill) in the Telco Colony area of Jamshedpur. Established in 1978 by Swami Ranga Rajan Ji Maharaj, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhuvaneshwari, an incarnation of Goddess Shakti and the ruler of the universe.

Architecture and Design

The temple is a striking example of South Indian Dravidian architecture, a style that stands out within the region. It is perched at an elevation of approximately 500 feet above sea level, providing a peaceful environment away from the industrial bustle of the city.

  • Rajagopuram: The entrance is marked by a majestic five-tiered gateway (Rajagopuram) that stands 64 feet tall, adorned with five sacred Kalasams.

  • Sanctum Sanctorum: The inner sanctum (Garbha Griham) is approximately 36 feet high and houses the deity of Maa Bhuvaneshwari.

  • Pillared Hall: The main hall features eight beautifully decorated pillars, each representing a different incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi (Ashta Lakshmi).

  • Associated Shrines: The temple complex also includes smaller shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Lord Krishna, Lord Hanuman, Lord Ayyappa, and the Navagrahas.
